As a visual designer at Green Dot, I was tasked to create a direct mail campaign promoting their two products, GoBank and TurboTax. The goal was to incentivize users to use both services by creating a visually appealing buckslip that would be mailed to people’s houses.
My primary goal for this project was to promote the use of both GoBank and TurboTax. To achieve this, I needed to create a visually engaging design that would grab the reader’s attention and encourage them to take advantage of the promotion. The buckslip needed to incorporate the branding of both products and clearly communicate the promotion’s details.
I began the project by researching the branding and design guidelines for both GoBank and TurboTax. With this information, I created two different designs for the front of the buckslip, one for each product, that incorporated their respective brand colors and guidelines.
The front of the buckslip featured a large, eye-catching graphic promoting the $75,000 giveaway for GoBank users who direct deposited their tax refund. I also included a clear call to action, urging users to take advantage of the promotion by signing up for GoBank and using TurboTax to file their taxes.
On the back of the buckslip, I used TurboTax’s branding and design guidelines to create a design that complemented the front. This side of the buckslip promoted using TurboTax to file taxes and provided a unique promo code for users to get a discount on their TurboTax purchase. I also included a call to action, encouraging users to take advantage of the discount by using TurboTax to file their taxes.
Once the designs were finalized, I worked closely with Green Dot to ensure that the buckslip met their print requirements and could be easily mailed to people’s houses.
The buckslip design was successful in promoting both GoBank and TurboTax. The $75,000 giveaway promotion for GoBank was particularly effective in incentivizing users to sign up for the service and direct deposit their tax refunds. The use of TurboTax’s branding and design guidelines on the back of the buckslip helped to strengthen the association between the two products and encouraged users to use TurboTax to file their taxes.
Overall, I am proud of the work I did on this project. My attention to detail and ability to incorporate the branding and design guidelines of both GoBank and TurboTax helped to create a cohesive and impactful design that successfully achieved the project’s goals. The buckslip was well-received by Green Dot and proved to be an effective tool in promoting their products. This project allowed me to showcase my strong design skills and ability to create effective promotional materials.
